Tips for getting the perfect tan.

Each of us has different characteristics based on the amount of melanin in our skin, hair, and eyes, which determines a greater or lesser degree of natural protection against the harmful effects of the sun’s ultraviolet rays—as well as a different way of tanning. It is well known that people with fair or very fair skin tend to burn much more easily and are unlikely to achieve a deep tan; rather, with proper care, their tan will be golden. Meanwhile, people with olive or medium-dark skin tones are less likely to burn and will develop a darker tan, but this does not mean they do not need protection.

One tip for getting a perfect tan—especially for those at higher risk of sunburn and sun rash—is to prepare your skin for the sun at least one month in advance by taking supplements that make your skin more resilient and stimulate melanin production. SoleVit is a comprehensive supplement containing beta-carotene, which reduces the risk of sunburn; selenium and vitamin E, which prevent wrinkles and sunspots by counteracting cellular aging; red and blue berries, which protect the skin thanks to their antioxidant properties; and coenzyme Q10, which promotes skin tone.

Prevention is better than cure, but our behavior while out in the sun is just as important; another very important tip for getting a perfect tan without getting sunburned is to apply the right amount of sunscreen (high SPF for fair or very fair skin, and medium to low SPF for dark and olive skin) roughly every 2 hours and after swimming or sweating, even if you’re using water-resistant products.

To avoid a “spotty” tan, it’s best to apply an adequate amount of sunscreen all over your body, preferably in spray form, since it spreads more evenly.  Our entire line of sunscreens comes in spray form, ranging from high protection (SPF 50) to medium (SPF 30) and low (SPF 15), all featuring skin-friendly UVA and UVB filters and made with Ingredients and organic Ingredients .

It’s also essential to gradually acclimate your skin to the sun by avoiding exposure during the hottest hours—between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.—and never staying out too long; the location where you’re sunbathing is another very important factor— the sun in the tropics isn’t the same as on the Riviera! Also remember that you shouldn’t apply sunscreen only when you’re directly exposed to the sun; light and ultraviolet rays reach your skin even through clouds or the shade of beach umbrellas, and they’re reflected by water and sand. Another tip is to keep using sunscreen even after you’ve already tanned—UVA and UVB rays remain harmful to your skin, even if it’s tanned!

One last tip for getting the best tan is to take care of your skin after sun exposure; after each time you’re in the sun, it’s a good idea to rehydrate and nourish your skin with soothing and refreshing after-sun products, such as our shea butter-based after-sun spray, which—thanks to its emollient properties—helps the skin regenerate in cases of sunburn and redness, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant mastic oil, and ruffa oil, which locks in and prolongs your tan.
