A difficult name to pronounce and remember.
Today we are talking about theAstaxanthin, a molecule with antioxidant action that boasts numerous benefits for our body. Suffice it to say that it is the most powerful antioxidant in nature, 550 times more effective than Vitamin E and 6000 times more powerful than Vitamin C.

Astaxanthin is a carotene, which is a plant pigment that is a precursor to Vitamin A. In nature it is synthesized mainly in plant organisms such as the Alga Haematococcus pluvialis, a favorite food of crustaceans and fish. If you happened to be cooking Greek-style shrimp or shrimp sautéed in brandy recently, you will notice that a reddish-colored oily liquid remains in the pan at the end of cooking. That's the Astaxanthin.
Counteracts free radicals.
One of the main functions of Astaxanthin is to counteract free radicals. These are highly unstable molecules, as they contain at least one unpaired electron. Over time they can lead to the onset of degenerative diseases. Unlike all other antioxidants, Astaxanthin, after giving up its free electrons, does not die; therefore, once the free radicals are eliminated, it continues to exert its protective functions within the body.
Aids vision.
Astaxanthin is a fat-soluble molecule, which means it is absorbed quickly by our bodies, reaching our organs, heart and eyes directly. The effect of this molecule on eyesight is to slow its degeneration, which is typical with advancing age. But that's not all! It is also recognized for its ability to counteract the effects of photosensitivity. We recommend it especially to those who spend a lot of time in front of the computer, as it absorbs blue lights, nullifying the oxidative process in the eye cells . In addition to this, it protects against the harmful effects of UV rays and reduces the annoying feeling of blurring.
Astaxanthin is good for the heart.
At Kuoppo University in Finland, a study was conducted to test the effects ofAstaxanthin on the heart. During the three-month observation period, one group of people was given a placebo, while the other was given 8 mg of Astaxanthin as a dietary supplement. At the end of the study, it was found that the intake of this substance was responsible for decreasing blood triglycerides and increasing HDL, the good cholesterol that contributes to heart health.
