Quercetin

Quercetin, the fruit of Sophora japonica

At this time of year, nature is preparing with great excitement to give its best. The buds are almost ready to open to show all the splendor of flowering when summer arrives.

Sophora japonica is also almost on the verge of blooming. A tree with an elegant habit, it is adorned in the warmer months with beautiful creamy white flowers, enclosed in clusters.

It is from these wonderful flowers that Quercetin, the star of our article today, is extracted.

Benefits.

Although Quercetin can be found in numerous fruits and vegetables, such as apples, onions, and broccoli, the extract from Sophora Japonica is undoubtedly the purest and most effective of all the various natural sources.

Quercetin (also known as Vitamin P) belongs to the flavonoid group and is known in herbal and nonherbal medicine for its remarkable antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action. Its main characteristic is that it acts synergistically together with Vitamin C, achieving remarkable antiviral capacity.

It is also an excellent remedy to use during the springtime to counteract the annoying symptoms of seasonal allergies. Being a natural bioflavonoid, Quercetin is able to stabilize mast cells, and thus prevent the production of histamine (the molecule responsible for allergic reactions).

Quercetin and immune defense.

In this regard, numerous studies have been published regarding the effectiveness of these two substances in treating CoronaVirus infection.

Quercetin in particular has been the subject of numerous studies, in vitro and in vivo, demonstrating the ability of this molecule to inhibit several respiratory viruses, such as Rhinovirus, Echovirus, and Polio type 1 virus. In addition, Quercetin is also able to reduce plaque formation by RNA and DNA viruses, such as precisely SARS-CoV-2.

Being a specific virus inhibitor, we often recommend the Quercetin supplement to boost immune capacity. Together with Vitamin C it can be a good preventive practice during the harsher months of the year, but also during the change of seasons.
