MediLum: snail slime for dry and oily coughs

Technology is moving forward, but without tradition it could not exist. There are state-of-the-art herbal products and herbal products that are prepared "the old way."

They remind us of the so-called "grandmother's remedies," formulated from raw materials and used to treat minor daily ailments with simplicity.

Would you ever drink Snail slime? Perhaps at first impulse you would say no, but once you finish reading this article you will probably change your mind.

We took inspiration from an ancient Bavarian recipe to create MediLum, a syrup for dry and oily coughs made from alpine snail slime.

Let's look specifically at the benefits of this very special ingredient.

History and interesting facts about Snail Slime

Snail Slime is the secretion produced by the common "snail" to move over surfaces and minimize the risk of abrasions.
It has a transparent, gelatinous appearance and is produced to hydrate the body.

The use of Snail Slime in cosmetics and therapeutics has made a comeback in recent times, but it has actually been witnessed since ancient times in both the East and the West.

The greatest physician in history, Hippocrates, described its anti-inflammatory properties in treating skin irritations.
Pliny the Elder had also mentioned it in his writings, as a remedy to treat ulcers and as a syrup to soothe coughs and dissolve phlegm.

Properties and Benefits of Snail Slime

In its composition, Snail Slime has a high concentration of active ingredients such as Vitamins A, B and C, allontoin, which stimulates cell renewal and exerts a healing action, and mucopolysaccharides, which, when combined with water, are able to form a protective gel.

This is why Snail slime proves particularly effective not only in making the skin smooth and velvety, but also in treating respiratory tract infections and irritations of the oropharyngeal mucosa.

To create MediLum, the natural syrup for dry and oily coughs, we followed an ancient Bavarian recipe that combines 20% Alpine Snail Slug extract and Raspberry juice, which together exert the following beneficial effects:

- Stimulates regeneration of damaged tissues and moisturizes mucous membranes;

- Has anti-inflammatory, soothing and calming properties;

- contains enzymes, peptides and antibacterial substances that fight harmful bacteria in the mouth.

MediLum syrup can be consumed pure or diluted in herbal teas, juices or milk, and because of its pleasant taste, it is also suitable for children.
