Essential oils for sound sleep

There are those times in life when, for one reason or another, you struggle to get to sleep.
You toss and turn between the sheets, unable to close your eyes for hours on end. But there are natural remedies for better sleep: today let's talk about essential oils to use against insomnia.

Why can't I fall asleep?

The causes of so-called "white nights" can be different.

First and foremost there is certainly stress and mental brooding, which lead us to continually go over the same thought in an endless loop. But a state of strong physical agitation can also affect the quality of sleep; it has been shown that an excessive amount of adrenaline in the circulation does not allow us to relax our physique, and therefore to fall asleep.
Finally, diet should always be taken into account: serotonin and melatonin are influenced by gut well-being and are essential for proper sleep regulation.

Obviously, to solve insomnia problems for good, we need to act at the root of the problem, but essential oils can be a valuable aid in the meantime . In addition, they have the advantage of having an immediate and lasting effect, this is because, passing through the olfactory channel, they act directly on the hypothalamus and pituitary gland (glands that produce and release hormones in our body).

Lemon Balm, Lavender, Cedar and Orange.

Essential oils can be taken in a variety of ways.
A room diffuser or a specific essence burner can be used, or a few drops can be poured into hot bath water. The general recommendation is to dilute them, as they are highly concentrated.

Lemon balm: Lemon balm essential oil is excellent for calming states of stress or muscle tension, as it acts on the limbic system with neurodistensive effects.

Lavender: the queen of essential oils, great for soothing the mind and promoting sleep. Lavender oil can also be applied directly to the body. Just dab a few drops on the neck and wrists.

Cedar: a woody and comforting scent at the same time. Cedar oil has been shown to decrease blood pressure and heart rate.

Bitter orange: This oil with citrus notes soothes nerves and calms states of stress and anxiety. Perfect in a diffuser before bedtime. It also has soothing effects on breathing, too, in cases of coughs or phlegm.
